The existing company registration numbers are unique, within a given RoC office, but is not so across the various RoC offices in the country (however, prefixing of the RoC code makes this unique). The portal will display the unique Corporate Identity Number (CIN) of a company when the company registration number or name is entered.
Click on the sub-option Find CIN under Other Services tab on the left side of the home page of MCA portal.
Select one of the following options :
Search based on RoC-Registration No, Search based on Existing Company Name, Search based of Inactive CIN or Search based on Old Name of Company,
Search based on RoC-Registration No : If you select this option, select the RoC and enter the registration number.
Search based on Existing Company Name : This option enables you to search by entering partial names. You will have to specify whether the name entered Is, Starts with, Ends with, Contains anywhere.
Ends with : Use this option when you know only the ending characters in the name of the company.
Is : Use this option when you know the full name of the company.
Starts with : Use this option when you know only the starting characters in the name of the company.
Contains anywhere : Use this option when the characters are present in between the name of the company.
Search based of Inactive CIN : If you select this option, enter the Inactive CIN.
Search based on Old Name of Company : If you select this option enter the Old name of the company and specify whether the name entered Is, Starts with, Ends with, Contains anywhere.
After selecting and entering the search criteria, click on the Submit button to get the CIN number of the company. If you want to clear all the fields then click on the Reset button.
A new screen opens showing the company name, CIN and status of the company.
